Eating Right…. DOESN’T = SALADS!!!

So I decided to address this topic because often times you hear people going on a “diet” or trying to “eat better” by eating lettuce and drinking water. I mean honestly…. HONESTLY… How long do you think that is going to last? Most people end up depriving their bodies of the right amount of calories they need to function in a day. Eating 3 salads a day with lemon juice is a sure way to set yourself up for FAILURE! I love food!!! (Like I am a certified fattie!) I Love Cooking and Love Eating…. You can’t take food away from me! lol Now I’m not saying go eat deep fried everything everyday… I can go months without touching fried foods! But once in awhile if I want some fried chicken/fish or whatever I’ll go get me some! I have to consume between 1600-1800 calories a day to maintain my weight… I cannot survive on salads and I will get BORED…

We also have the people who are eating what I like to call “LOADED SALADS.” I’m talking ranch. mayo and all types of dressings, cheeses and just everything… Let’s be serious… A tuna/chicken salad packed with mayo couldn’t possibly be any good for you… Some of these salads are worse than Burgers! Yes, I said it… Some have more fat than protein or carbs (http://www.wendys.com/en-us/salads/baja-chili-salad-half-size) Take that one for example and it’s a half-size salad… But some would think just because it’s a salad… you’re good… Not necessarily the case every time.

Bottom line and the point I’m trying to get across is you can eat your pasta just be mindful of how many grams it says to have per serving. The average spaghetti box (that I’ve come in contact with at least has about 7 servings) don’t make it 3… And when you make your pasta at home, you know what you’re putting in there… You know you used one tablespoon of olive oil and you know you didn’t pour a cup of salt in there, you know you didn’t throw half a bag of government cheese on it! When you make your food, you have control over what you put into your body versus ordering at a restaurant… Also, different people have different things that work for them. What works for me might not work for you; people need to pay attention and listen to their bodies and stop looking at the images they see on the magazines.  People prep for photo shoots like they prep for shows and photoshop takes care of the rest! lol I’m a realist and I always have been. The end goal shouldn’t be to look like him or her… Truth is you can’t because you are unique and different.  Put in your work in the gym and in the kitchen and strive to be better than you were yesterday!!! Don’t go on fad diets and don’t lie to yourself that you’re “eating right” and not “losing weight.” Research, ask questions and figure out what works for you! Hope this helps someone out there… I have my moments when I feel like sharing my thoughts on life rather than recipes… lol
